First Road Trip

Evan took his first road trip this past Memorial Day weekend!  We left on Friday morning to head down to Houston.  Evan slept the entire way.  We actually had to force him awake halfway down to change and feed him.

Evan finally got to meet his Uncle Nick and Aunt Kathryn who were in town from Ohio!  Sadly, he was fussy pretty much the entire time Friday night.  I don't have a good picture of them with him, but here is one of my brother and I:

The Flores Family
I love how tall Matt is compared to everyone else.  I don't even think he was standing completely straight up in this picture either.  I'm thinking Evan will be the second tallest on the Flores side of the family.

Saturday:
Matt, Evan, and I did some shopping early afternoon and then took a nice long nap.  It's always so nice when Evan naps at the same time that we are wanting a nap.

On Saturday night we ventured out to my mom's best friend's wedding.  Nita and Gerald finally tied the knot and we couldn't have been happier to celebrate with them!  Evan was their youngest guest.

Look how beautiful my mom was!

Sunday:

We were up and ready to go for the early Mass and we went out to breakfast after.

Evan loves his coffee!

When we found out we were pregnant, we asked my parents to keep our crazy adorable cat Marcello.  If you have ever met Marcello, you know he is a little vicious spirited.  We were worried with having him around a newborn, so he is officially living with my parents.  They love him and he is happy there.  Joey and Marcello were (semi) happy to be reunited!

We left around 9:00am on Monday and had a non-eventful drive back.  I'm going to call Evan's first road trip a success.  We are looking forward to seeing my family once again in July!

Lovebirds

This weekend was full of fun!

Friday:

Matt's parents came in town to love on their grandson.  We went to a delicious Mexican Restaurant in downtown McKinney and then spent time at our home just adoring over this sweet boy.

Evan was not fussy at all while they were here.

Saturday:

Our good friends Adam and Emily came into town to stay with us.  Adam was the best man at our wedding and they (unfortunately) don't live near us.  Matt and Adam went to see Dave Matthews Band and Emily and I spent time watching these two lovebirds meet for the first time:

Lilian and Evan

the two lovebirds
We basically hung around and chatted about our little ones, but we would have it no other way!
Lilian and Evan were born less than 24 hours apart!  Lilian was almost two weeks late and Evan was almost two weeks early.  We are so blessed to have our babies so close in age!

Sunday:

Matt and Adam went golfing while Emily and I took a walk with the babies and spent more time together.  Before they left we had a little photo shoot.

We only had a 30 second window where Evan was not crying.  The pictures above will be reserved for their wedding save-the-dates!!

I'll leave you with a picture of our little one!

pucker up!

Mother's Day Weekend

I'm linking up with Tami today for Weekend Rewind!

Little Moments Like This

We had a GREAT weekend!

The weather was pretty cool so we went on a 30 minute walk.  Evan was awake the entire time and loved it!
Joey: "What is taking y'all so long?!"

Then we went to a coworker/friend's house to hang out (I forgot to take pictures there).

Best part of Saturday:  Top Golf with friends to celebrate Eric's birthday!

Enjoying a night out at Top Golf

Birthday boy and Hillary.  Love them!

Evan was fed, passed around, and was a great sport!

Sunday was my first Mother's Day!  Evan gave me a great gift: sleeping in until 8:30 and smiles in the morning!

We went to Cafe Brazil for brunch (my favorite) and spent the day laying around.  Matt wasn't feeling well so we didn't make it to church.  Thankfully he is feeling much better today!

Our (soon to be) Home

I know I've mentioned it already, but Matt and I are building a home in the neighborhood directly across the street from where we work.  We were not originally planning on purchasing a home for a few years down the line, but when baby arrives, he comes with a LOT of stuff.  Since interest rates are so low and everything, we decided to bite the bullet.  And we love it!  Prepare yourself.  This post will be a series of pictures that tell our home's story.

The exciting part?  We are closing on July 16th, our 1 year wedding anniversary!  So instead of our original plan: a romantic vacation to celebrate 365 days of married life...we will be purchasing our first home with a beautiful and healthy baby in our arms.  God truly has his own plans and we love them!

Loving this Wednesday

I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Today I love...

...that Evan had his first playdate with his best friend, Baylor, yesterday!  These two will be in daycare together come August when Traci and I return to work.  Hopefully they will get along!

Evan cries.  Baylor chills.

...that I have another playdate with my friend Sarah and her daughter Blair on Friday!

...these outfits that I spotted on Pinterest

...that there are only a few more weeks of school left and my husband's schedule will be more free!

...that Evan's 1 month appointment went so well this week!  He is now 8 pounds, 11.5 ounces and 21 inches long.  We have a growing boy!

Weekend

Little Moments Like This

I am linking up with Tami for another Weekend Rewind!

On Friday night Matt watched Evan so I could get together with two of my friends, Lisa and Hillary.  We went to Painting with a Twist and it was a blast!  We are no professional artists by any means, but I think our work turned out well.

Our paintings

On Saturday morning my friends Hillary and Wendy came over to show Evan some love while I went to his baptism preparation class and while Matt judged a band contest.  The rest of the afternoon was pretty laid back.  Evan and I napped and lounged around until Matt came home.  We ended the night with a family of 3 watching movies in bed.  Not your typical cinco de mayo, but muy fantastico nonetheless.

On Sunday we slept in and I enjoyed my usual morning cup of coffee while meal planning for the week.  I used to meal plan for us every Sunday morning and somehow got away from that routine.  I'm now starting it back up because it helps us be much more prepared during the week.

Sunday is actually a first for Evan because he smiled for the first time on purpose!!  He smiles in his sleep all the time, but this time it was in response to both Matt and I.  It happened twice and we have yet to see that cute smile since.  Hopefully it will come out again very soon!

Joey enjoys his lazy Saturday

We were supposed to go to church (our first time since Evan arrived) but our family's afternoon nap lasted longer than planned.  We woke up with just enough time to run out the door pre-baby.  Now that baby is here, it takes a LOT longer to get places.  Instead we decided to grab a bite to eat at Mooyah burger and go by the house we are building.  They have installed the tile and fireplace in our home.  We LOVE it!

I should have taken more pictures this weekend.  I plan to learn more about my digital camera while I'm off of work with Evan.  I'll leave you with this smiling, sleepy boy.  Hope your weekend was wonderful!

One Month!

Oh Evan, you are ONE month old!

Eat:
You are nursing every 2-3 hours. About once a week you grace us with a 4 hour span between feedings at night.  It is glorious!  Every so often you get really fussy while you are nursing and we think that it may just be gas, but we are not quite sure.  We have started giving you gas drops to help with your pain. We always bring a bottle with us when we go out because I have not yet mastered the art of nursing in public yet!

 Sleep:
You are currently sleeping a LOT during the day!  There are times when you are awake and wide-eyed for up to a few hours.  You usually wake up 2-4 times during the night to nurse.  Two weeks ago you went through a growth spurt and you were hungry every 45 minutes!  It was a rough 24 hours!  We are hoping and keeping our fingers crossed that you will start sleeping longer stretches at night.

Sizes:
You are currently still in all newborn outfits.  The 0-3 month outfits are still too big and fall off your bottom!  We ran out of newborn diapers last week and went up to size 1's.  When we run out of size 1 diapers (they were all gifts) then we are going to start your cloth diapers.  I'm so excited about that!

Stats:
When you were born you were 6 pounds, 11 ounces.  When you left the hospital you were 6 pounds, 3 ounces.  Our goal for your 2 week doctor's appointment was to be back at your birth weight.  You exceeded that goal and weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces at 2 weeks old!  At birth you were 19 inches long.  At 2 weeks you were 20.5 inches long.
Current Weight: 8 lbs, 11.5 oz (23rd percentile)
Current Height: 21 inches (29th percentile)

Likes:
You LOVE to eat!  Sometimes you feed as much as 14 to 15 times per day!  You love your bouncy seat and the fact that your bassinet vibrates.  You enjoy car rides and falling asleep in our arms.  You fall asleep in the Baby Bjorn most of the time.  Your addiction: being swaddled.  You calm down so well when you are tightly wrapped.  If you ever get really fussy and cry then we turn on the vacuum cleaner and you quiet down right away.  Now our vacuum cleaner lives by your bassinet.  You love to lay on your back on your play mat and grab at the hanging toys.  It is so neat to see you learn more and more every day!

Dislikes:
You DESPISE diaper changes!  You get pretty impatient when it is time to eat and you don't have your food right then and there, but I think most babies are like that.  When you get the hiccups you start to cry.  We think they make your stomach hurt a little.  You don't like being in your carseat unless you are moving in it or sleeping.  We have started tummy time and you only like it for about 10 minutes and then you start to scream!

Firsts:
Basically everything this month is a first!!  You are starting to hold up your head very well.  You are making better eye contact and will follow an object with your eyes.  You are grabbing on to toys very well and won't let go! We are trying to get you to smile on your own, but right now you are smiling a lot in your sleep.  I think you are dreaming of milk and cuddle time.  We are enjoying seeing your precious smile come out.
