Pinterest Challenge

I have pinned SO many things on Pinterest.  Some I accomplish and some I only dream about.  This past weekend I decided to take part in the Summer Pinterest Challenge that was crafted by Sherry and Katie.

Unfortunately, I had a Pinterest-fail and attempted to make a painting that turned out terrible.  I'm hoping I'm not the only one out there that has received a big fat "F" in the DIY world before!  Of course I decided that if at first you don't succeed, pick yourself up and try again do something easier.

I decided to slow things down and take on a challenge that I could pretty much guarantee a success.  Enter: new pillows!  We have had the same ol' same ol' pillows on our couch for too long.  I found some fabric that was 50% off at JoAnn's and 4 cloth napkins for only $10 at Target!

cloth napkins from Target
I got to work on my sewing machine and just a short time later I had 4 new and (if I do say so myself) stylish pillows!

I'm using the fabrics as a guide of sorts for the colors that will be in our living room once we move into the new home.

I'm happy with the fact that it was a quick DIY project that brings instant gratification.

Joey cozies up with the new pillows

And just for good measure...here is a baby picture with the pillows.

It's Lake Time!

Last Saturday morning, Amanda called me at 9:00am and asked if Matt and I would be willing to make a spontaneous trip to Lake LBJ.  Well, pre-baby there would not have been one bit of hesitation between us.  We would have packed in 10 minutes and have been on the road!  This time, we had to weigh our options.  How do we keep him safe from the sun when he's too young to wear sunscreen?  What about mosquitoes?  Will he be crying all night and bother others?  Will the change mess up his routine?  We decided that we I shouldn't sit around and worry and instead go have some summer fun!

After twenty minutes three hours of packing and making sure we had everything we needed, we were on the road heading south!

Our trip included....

Friends reuniting.

3 Month Birthday

Evan you are 3 months old!  I know all moms say this, but I CANNOT believe how quickly time has flown.  Here is what the little man has been doing this past month:

Eat:
You are still exclusively breastfed and we are loving it!  Not only are you receiving all of my antibodies, but we are saving money by not using formula.  You will take a bottle easily, but you still prefer to nurse.  You are not on a strict feeding schedule.  We basically feed you when  you are hungry and you stop when you are full.  It's working out for us so far!

Sleep:
I'm probably going to jinx myself for typing this, but you have been sleeping like a champ.  You usually go down to sleep around 9 or 9:30 and wake up anywhere from 5am to 7am.  There were two nights in a row that you slept NINE hours straight.  It was glorious!  You will eat at that time and then go back to sleep until around 9:30 or 10:00am.  Your naps have decreased during the day since your nights have been long, but we prefer to have you awake during the day than at night.

Sizes:
You are mostly wearing 3-6 month size clothes.  You no longer can fit into 0-3 month size clothing, but that's okay because now we have a ton of new clothes to wear!  Your dad loves it when you wear collared shirts.  He thinks you look older and like a tiny little boy.  It's adorable.

Stats:
We don't have another doctor's appointment until next month, so these stats were taken at home.
Weight: 12.4 lbs
Height:  25 inches

Likes:
We have started letting you watch a Baby Einstein video each day and you loooooooooove it!  We enjoy hearing you talk, giggle, and coo while you listen to Mozart playing in the background.  You still enjoy being held in the Baby Bjorn- you usually fall fast asleep.  Evan, you have an area on your Daddy that you absolutely love.  We call it "your spot" and when you are in that particular spot on his chest, you calm down and are so happy.  It's adorable.  You enjoy watching the fan, looking at Joey while you ride in the car, chewing on your hands, going on walks in your stroller, warm baths, gazing at your mobile, and cuddling next to your Mama in the early mornings.  You are such a happy baby, especially bright and early in the mornings.

Dislikes:
You still dislike having your diaper changed, but not as much.  You sometimes become gassy after you eat but not nearly as much as your used to.  You still hate tummy time!  You have almost rolled over a couple times, but you just scream while you are on your tummy.  We are still working on it every day though.  While we sat down to think about your dislikes, we realized that you don't dislike many things!  Let's hope it stays that way as you continue to grow.
Ready to be finished with the photography session

Firsts:
Amanda and Jessica came to visit in early June.  That was the first time you heard how loud we can all laugh when we are together.  I can guarantee you it won't be the last.

You giggled for the first time for Auntie Amanda and Aunt Jessica on June 12th while they were in town to visit you.  You giggled soon after we did this to you:

"You've got to be kidding me"

You helped your Dad celebrate his very first Father's Day on June 17th.  He is such a hard-working and loving Dad.  I cannot wait to see how we create traditions to help celebrate Dad in the years to come!

Evan in Daddy's spot.

You can successfully sit in your bumbo seat!  Your head still wobbles a tad, but your neck muscles are becoming so strong.

"Mom! Put the camera away!"

You had your very first visit to the Bruns' Family Lakehouse.  We made a spontaneous trip per Amanda's request and it was a blast!  The weather was surprisingly cool, so we enjoyed some time in the shade with a large fan.  We cannot wait for you to jump in that water and ride on the back of the jet skis one day!

Lovin the sun!

Let's take a quick look back at the past 3 months:

Evan, we have enjoyed learning even more about you and your personality this month.  We feel truly blessed and special to be given such a gift from God.  We hope you feel how much we love you!
