WILW

Today I am linking up with Jamie  for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

This week I am loving...

1. The DIY excitement in our home!

Cheap tiles + paper + mod podge = 8 new coasters!
This project will have its own dedicated post

2. Packing for the big move is underway!

3. I'm getting back into my running groove.  A c-section can't hold me back!

4. Girls Night Out at the Melting Pot.  Yum!

5.  My cousin Claire welcomed her second sweet little one on the 26th.  Happy Birthday Cate!
Beautiful Cate

6.  This handsome young man.

7. And of course, my wonderful husband who never fails to make Evan and I laugh!

Texas Love

Our house has been kicked into DIY gear over here.  I'm going to give credit to the upcoming closing on our house and the fact that we have a free summer.  While Matt has been working outside on a special project, I have been crafting inside with the little man.

My inspiration came from pinterest (of course)!

My finished product

My materials:
  • leftover scrap wood from Matt's project
  • paint
  • foam paint brush
  • gold nails
  • white string
 The quick rundown:
  1. paint board blue
  2. tape picture of Texas onto said board
  3. Hammer in nails all along the Texas border
  4. Make a heart where Dallas is
  5. Wind string back and forth between the nails to make a pretty pattern

I'm really happy with the finished product and Matt was actually impressed!  I'm hoping to make more DIY art here in the future to help make our house feel more like a home!

Now all I need is for moving day to arrive so we can find a place for this special piece.

Oh, and here is what my assistant did while I was working.  What a helpful little boy!

Father's Day

We celebrated our very first Father's Day as a family of 3 yesterday.

When I was growing up, we would make our mom and dad breakfast in bed to celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day.   I wanted to carry that tradition on in our family so I woke up early and made Matt homemade pancakes.  In the future Evan will be able to stir the pancake batter himself!

I ordered him a cute card with pictures of him and Evan napping (it's their father-son bonding time).  I love the way it came out and the fact that it was 100%  F-R-E-E!

Then we went off to church.  We have found that the best way to keep Evan quiet during Mass is to have Matt wear him in the Baby Bjorn.  Sleeping Baby = Happy Parishioners.

Outside of church
We ended up enjoying Texas Roadhouse (Matt's favorite) for a late lunch and then headed to Best Buy where they were having an appliance sale and purchased a refrigerator for our home.  We've been looking for quite some time and thanks to a nice Father's Day Weekend Sale, we got a great price.  It will be delivered to our home the day we move in.

We hung around the house the rest of the day and enjoyed our time together as a family.

Also, Matt's summer will OFFICIALLY begin on Wednesday.  He has been teaching summer school 4 days out of the week so he feels that his summer has not truly begun.  I'm excited to have him home all day with Evan and I, but I know he'll go crazy just sitting around.  We will have to find some projects/activities to engage in or else he will go nuts!  Thankfully soon we will begin packing for our big move!!!

Hope y'all enjoyed your Father's Day as well!

Forever

Sometimes we are lucky to find a friend that will be by our side through all our ups and downs in life.  They laugh with us, cry with us, and enjoy the silence with us.  I consider myself blessed because I have two of these very special people in my life.  Enter: Jessica and Amanda.

Amanda and Jessica drove up to McKinney to spend time with our family of 3.  We had a blast!

Evan loves Auntie Jessica!
We enjoyed movies, pedicures, cooking, brunch, and imagining what Evan would look like with hair.

He is going to hate me for this one day.

I desperately miss living close to these amazing friends and I cannot wait for us to reunite again soon.  We are hoping for another get together before school starts back up.

Once they left town, we immediately enjoyed some mother-son bonding time that was captured on camera by Matt:

I am so happy that Evan will grow up being loved by these two girls.  I am so excited to see what our forever holds for the three of us!

Weekend Away

This past weekend we embarked on another road trip!

Friday:

We traveled to Temple so Evan could meet his Mema (Matt's grandmother) and her husband Gene.  He also met his Uncle Shane for the first time!

Love this family!

Saturday:

Evan spent the day with his Nana while I went to my dear friend Bekah's bachelorette party in Austin.  We spent the afternoon laying out in the sun and celebrating her last days of singlehood.

Spelling out "Bekah"

On Saturday night we spent time with Adam and Emily.  Once again Evan was able to spend time with his girlfriend, Lilian.

Future lovebirds

Thought this picture was hilarious!  No, he didn't actually hit her, but yes her response is hilarious!

We attempted to make it look like Evan was on one knee proposing.  It didn't work as planned.

Sunday:
Brunch with Matt's parents at Cracker Barrel followed by the long drive back to Dallas.

I'll leave you with a picture of our smiley boy!

Happy Two Month Birthday!

Evan, you are TWO months old today!  I cannot believe how fast time has flown.  I am sure that I will look back on this and forget just how small you are.

Eat:
You are nursing every 1-3 hours during the day.  You go to bed between 9 - 10:30 and usually wake up once or twice in the night to eat.  It's much better than it was before!  We are both more comfortable with nursing and it's actually enjoyable now!  We have started having staring sessions while you eat during the day.  We are still giving you a bottle every now and then, but you definitely prefer to nurse.  We will continue to give you more bottles so you are ready to go to the babysitter in late August.

 Sleep:
You wake up anywhere from 5:30 - 7:00am each day.  You usually take some small naps and then a nice long nap from noon - 3pm.  I try to nap a little with you each day so I'm in a good mood when Dad comes home.  We have a nightly routine of bath, nurse, and bedtime each night.  You are enjoying your warm bath time!

Sizes:
We can still squeeze you into some newborn outfits, but we mostly put you in 0-3 month outfits.  You can fit into a lot of Carter 3 month outfits and Gerber 6-9 month onesies.   You are in size 1 diapers but I am excited to say that we are no longer using disposable diapers!  We are now diapering you in exclusively cloth diapers.  The only time we plan on using disposable diapers is when we travel overnight.

Stats:
Weight: 10 lbs, 10 oz (25th percentile)
Height: 22.5 inches (32nd percentile)

Likes:
You love being held in the Baby Bjorn.  It is our go-to item for when you are fussy.  You enjoy being bounced, and you only want to be held in a position where you are sitting up.  You are happiest in the mornings or right after you wake up from a nap.  That is when we get the most smiles out of you!  You like your musical seahorse.  Dad thought it was silly and hideous at first, but it helps put you to sleep at nap time.  Now he is a fan!  You enjoy car rides, staring at Joey, and looking at people.  You love napping in your bouncy chair or laying next to me while we nap together.

Dislikes:
You are your fussiest in the evenings around 6pm.  We have your quirks figured out and know how to calm you down well.  You don't enjoy getting your diaper changed unless you have a full tummy.  You despise laying flat on your back and we hope that this will change soon so you can begin sleeping in your crib.

Firsts:
You had many, many firsts this month!  You are now smiling a lot more during the day.  You are holding a person's gaze for a significant amount of time and we just love that.  You are holding up your head much better and you are becoming better at tummy time.

This month you went golfing for the first time (well, we went golfing at Top Golf to celebrate a friend's birthday).  I know that Dad will take you golfing MUCH more in the future.

You also met your future bride!  Lilian Haberer (future Lilian Baggerly) was born less than 24 hours before you!  Y'all are so adorable together.  We are hoping that y'all get along when you grow up (before you fall in love of course at the scheduled age of 30 - that is the age that Lilian's dad is allowing her to date).  They came to visit us once and we were able to visit them as well.  We have even decided to partake in family vacations starting next summer!

You made your first 5 hour trip to Houston to meet your Uncle Nick and Aunt Kathryn.  They love you oh so much!

You even attended your very first wedding!  Nita and Gerald got married on May 26th and you were the youngest guest.  You did very well and the three of us enjoyed dancing together for the first time!

You took your second road trip to Temple and Austin to visit family!  You met Bekah, one of my very best friends, and also met your Mema (Matt's grandmother) and some extended family.  You also met your Uncle Shane for the first time too!

We have loved spending all of our time with you this past month and are eager to see how you will grow and change next month as well!
